What it is
Arco Led, item F0303000, is Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni’s 1962 floor lamp for Flos — a street lamp brought indoors. White Carrara marble block as counterweight, stainless-steel telescopic stem, perforated and swivelling pressed-aluminum reflector. The hole in the marble is not decoration: two people lift it with a wooden pole. The LED version (2012, fiftieth year of both Arco and Flos) keeps the geometry and swaps the source.

This is overhead light without a junction box — a piece of furniture that happens to be a lamp.
Who it’s for
Rooms that need a pool of light over a table or sofa and cannot, or should not, cut the ceiling. Designers who already accept Castiglioni’s “every part does a job” rule and have floor space for a 64 kg block plus a seven-foot reach. Strong fit for dining that wants the arc in the room, not a pendant on a schedule that cannot wait for electrical.
Skip it if the floor cannot take the weight, the plan cannot spare the footprint, or you need task-level lumens on a desk. Also skip the copies: the marble-and-arc silhouette is one of the most stolen shapes in lighting, and most of them miss the hole, the telescoping stem, or both.

Do not treat a hotel lobby or a film still as a reason to write this SKU. The case is the original geometry, the marble math, and the fact that the copies still have not replaced it.
