TOTO NEOREST NX2 Dual-Flush Toilet
The best-looking integrated toilet you can buy, with every TOTO hygiene system built in, but at $26,279 list for one fixture with a three-year residential warranty, it is a solid pick for owners who want the flagship, not the default, since the near-identical NX1 skips only the UV clean light.

Best for
- primary baths in serious renovations where the toilet is visible and should read as a sculpted object, not a tank and a seat
- owners who already want an integrated bidet toilet and will use the heated seat, warm-water wash, dryer, and auto lid every day
- projects that can bring a dedicated 120V GFCI outlet to the toilet location before the tile goes in
What it is
The NEOREST NX2 (model MS903CUMFX#01) is TOTO’s flagship one-piece smart toilet: a fully skirted vitreous china bowl with the bidet seat, lid, dryer, and deodorizer built into one body instead of bolted on. TOTO describes it as “its most beautiful intelligent toilet with its most advanced cleansing technology,” with an elliptical silhouette “inspired by the natural beauty of pebbles shaped by water over time.” TOTO’s Japanese press release says the NEOREST NX launched worldwide in August 2017 as its next-generation flagship, aimed at hotels, commercial spaces, and “hotel-like” homes.
What separates NX2 from its sibling, the NEOREST NX1 (MS902CUMFG), is ACTILIGHT, a UV light in the lid that activates a photocatalytic layer on the bowl to break down waste when the lid is closed. TOTO’s parts manual covers both models as the same body, and dealer comparison tables price the NX1 at about $11,452 against the NX2’s $26,279.
From TOTO’s spec sheet (SS-02222 v.05):
- 1.0 / 0.8 GPF dual flush using TOTO’s HYBRID ECOLOGY SYSTEM (an electric-assist flush) with TORNADO FLUSH, plus a back-up manual flush for power outages
- CEFIONTECT glaze, EWATER+ (electrolyzed water that cleans the wand, bowl, and under-seat after each use), PREMIST (mists the bowl before use), and a self-cleaning wand
- Warm-water front and rear wash with oscillating and pulsating modes, adjustable spray position, temperature, and pressure, from an instantaneous heater
- Heated seat (about 82–97°F), warm-air dryer with five settings, O2 deodorizer, touchless auto open and close lid, auto flush, and a night light behind the toilet and inside the bowl
- Stick-style remote with memory settings for up to 4 users
- Universal Height, ADA compliant, floor-to-seat 17-5/16 in; WaterSense and CALGreen per TOTO’s product page
- AC 120V, 60 Hz, 1290 W, with a 3.9 ft power cord; TOTO “highly recommends” a surge protector
- 141 lb product weight, 161 lb shipped; one color, #01 Cotton (white)
- Warranty: three-year limited residential, one-year commercial
Dealers list the body at 31-1/2 in L × 18-3/8 in W × 23 in H on a 12 in rough-in, with Japan as country of origin.
Price band (observed 2026-10-07): authorized dealers list an MSRP of $26,279. One online dealer was showing $17,081; another showroom page still carried an older list of $25,147 with a sale price of $18,860.25. TOTO’s own product page renders no price, says “Limited Inventory,” and notes that its current showroom discount “excludes NEOREST products.” Treat any discount as dealer-specific and confirm before quoting a client.
This opens the toilet lane on Luxury House List. Fixtures coverage so far is all faucets (vola-kv1-one-handle-mixer, dornbracht-tara-kitchen-single-hole-mixer, waterworks-henry-lav-hls101, waterworks-finot-high-profile-lav-nls220).
Who it’s for
Owners and designers doing a primary bath where the toilet sits in view (no water closet door) and where a smart toilet is already on the wish list. The skirted, seamless pebble form is the reason to choose the NX over TOTO’s cheaper NEOREST lines: it reads as part of the architecture next to a freestanding tub or a minimal vanity, and there are no exposed bolts, gaps, or trapway curves to clean around. It also suits clients who care a lot about hygiene and low-maintenance cleaning, since the bowl mists, sprays, and (on the NX2) UV-treats itself.
Skip it if the bathroom doesn’t have, or can’t easily get, a dedicated GFCI outlet at the toilet; if you want a wall-hung toilet (that’s TOTO’s WX line, a different product); if you want any color other than white; or if the price would be better spent on the shower, tile, or millwork. Most of all, skip the NX2 specifically if you’d be happy with the NX1: same body, same comfort features, roughly $15,000 less at dealer list, minus the ACTILIGHT lamp. And for a powder room that guests use twice a week, any NEOREST is overkill.
Standout details
- Specs that matter (TOTO): 1.0 / 0.8 GPF · HYBRID ECOLOGY SYSTEM with TORNADO FLUSH · ACTILIGHT, EWATER+, PREMIST, CEFIONTECT · heated seat, warm-water wash, dryer, deodorizer · auto lid and auto flush with manual backup · 4-user remote memory · 17-5/16 in seat height · 120V, 1290 W · 141 lb · Cotton only · 3-year residential warranty
- Form: fully skirted one-piece with a seamless seat, so the whole thing wipes down as a single surface
- Power-out behavior: manual back-up flush per TOTO, so it doesn’t become unusable in an outage
- Awards (sourced): NEOREST NX won the iF Design Award 2018 and Red Dot Design Award 2018 (TOTO press releases; Red Dot’s jury said it “sets aesthetically high standards”); TOTO USA lists the NX2 as a Good Design Award 2018 winner (Chicago Athenaeum) and CES Innovation Awards 2019 Honoree; TOTO says the NEOREST NX was among its 2023 Green Good Design winners
- Tradeoffs: $26,279 list for one fixture; the three-year residential warranty is short for the price and for a product full of electronics and heaters; it needs a GFCI outlet and benefits from a surge protector; 141 lb means a careful two-person install; one white finish; TOTO marks it Limited Inventory, so lead time and availability need checking early
Who’s specifying
TOTO positions the NEOREST NX for hotels, commercial spaces, and “hotel-like” residences in its own launch materials, and the design-award record above is the strongest credible signal for it. TOTO USA’s 2019 awards release also lists the NX2 as a Hospitality Design Awards 2018 finalist and Best of KBIS 2019 finalist. No specific celebrity home or named residential project using this exact model turned up in research, so none is claimed here.
Honest verdict
The NEOREST NX2 is the integrated toilet to point at when someone asks what the best one looks like. The form is genuinely beautiful for a toilet, the fully skirted body is easy to keep clean, and TOTO has packed every hygiene system it makes into it. The problem is the money and what you get for it: at a $26,279 list, it costs roughly $15,000 more than the NX1, which is the same toilet without the UV lamp, and both carry only a three-year residential warranty on what is, under the china, an appliance. House Score 3: a solid, defensible choice for a primary bath where the owner wants the flagship and won’t notice the price, but in most serious renovations the better specification is the NX1 body, or a lower NEOREST, with the savings spent elsewhere in the room. Draft until greenlit. If you do specify it, put the GFCI outlet on the electrical plan before rough-in, add a surge protector, and confirm availability with a TOTO showroom early, since TOTO marks it Limited Inventory.
